Water Flossers Can Make A Huge Impact To Your Oral Health

When you floss your teeth, you are making strides toward healthier gums and teeth. A water flosser can also help rinse away the debris that can lead to oral health complaints. By using water, you are using an effective method, as the water serves as a soft “power wash” that efficiently removes food particles and plaque without harming the enamel of the teeth.

WHY WATER FLOSSERS WORK

According to the site, WebMD, a water flosser should never replace regular brushing and flossing, but, instead, serve as an adjunct to regular dental care. While you still need to brush and floss twice a day, you can still use the water flosser before or after your brush and floss. To use a water flosser, fill the reservoir with lukewarm water. Then place the tip of the flosser in your mouth. Always lean over the sink to avoid spillage and a mess. When you switch on the appliance, you are ready to clean your teeth

HOW TO USE THE WATER FLOSSER

Angle the handle of the flosser at 90 degrees to get the most benefit from the activity. The water will come out in steady, consistent pulses to clean between the teeth. Begin at the back of the mouth first, then work your way toward the front. Focus on the gum line and the spaces between each tooth. Always remember to water floss the back teeth. This process does not take any longer than brushing the teeth, for lasts about 2 minutes. Always empty the water from the reservoir to prevent the growth of bacteria. The water flosser gets between the teeth where regular brushing cannot. Again, don’t use this dental tool instead of regular floss. Use it as a supplement to ensure your teeth are thoroughly cleaned of food and residue, and to prevent the formation of plaque.

If you have not had your teeth professionally cleaned or examined in the last 6 months, now is the time to schedule an appointment. Give us a call anytime to have your teeth checked and cleaned.
